Saturday and Sunday, May 30th and 31st on ZACH’s Kleberg Stage

In 2023, more than 150 actors auditioned for 45 auditors at Citywides.
About 200 actors were seen by 50 auditors in 2024.
Last year, 300 actors participated, and more than 60 auditors attended.
WHAT WILL HAPPEN THIS YEAR?!

CITYWIDES FOR ACTORS
• Must be a member of ATXtheatre.org to audition. Joining is FREE.
• NOT intended for actors living outside of the Austin-metro area. LOCAL HIRES ONLY.
• Producers/directors/casting directors seek qualified local actors with experience & training. This audition is not a good fit for those who aspire to act but have no training/experience. Beginning actors are encouraged to seek training before auditioning in future years. Working actors are welcome. Total pros who usually get pre-cast are welcome. Actors who are actively taking classes are welcome. Trained actors returning after years away from the stage are welcome...
• MUST BE 18+ years old to audition.
• Thanks to the Bennett Raccah Charitable Fund, this audition poses no cost barrier to entry.
• No need to bring physical headshots/resumes. You will upload them

HERE, in the ACTOR audition sign-up form.
Note: Later slots will be added after the early slots fill.

THE GUIDELINES
Each actor has 90 seconds to audition w/ freedom of material choice.
Please rehearse with a timer so the 90 seconds feel secure rather than stressful.
At 90, you’ll be cut off at the stage manager’s discretion.
Flexible ideas for how to structure the 90:
• TWO contrasting monologues* that both fit into 90 seconds; or
• ONE 90-second (or less) monologue*; or
• ONE song segment (16 bars) and ONE monologue* that both fit in 90 seconds; or
• ONE 90-second song, but only choose this if your acting chops shine in the song.

NO ACCOMPANIST. To sing, bring a backing track on your own device that's loud enough to balance with your voice in a large room. Music must be cued up before entry. No plug provided. Setting up your device should take no time. You may use the small table downstage right for devices if you wish. If a track is not an option, you may sing a capella or with a portable instrument.

The weekend prior to the audition, on Sunday, May 24, from 11 am to 12 pm, auditioners are invited to check out the Kleberg, practice backing track device procedures, and test volume levels.

*Monologues from published plays preferred. Avoid material choices w/ a deluge of profanity or offensive subject matter. Also, please avoid getting uncomfortably close to the auditors.

THE PLAN
1. Enter the room from downstage left when invited to do so.
2. Slate: state your name & material source(s).
3. Rock your 90 seconds. Timer begins with the first word (or first note).
4. Close with a thank you, exit downstage right — gathering gear as you go if you used a device.

• Your résumé should include:
     - your name
     - up-to-date contact info (your email & phone number, agent if applicable)
     - your height

     - your theatre/acting experience (live stage productions, films, etc.)
     - your relevant training (acting, voice/speech/singing, movement/dance...)

• Your résumé can include (helpful but not required):
     - performing-related skills, vocal range, age range...
     - a live link to a reel, website, or iMDB page if you have those
     - a small headshot in the corner for reference (Auditors click from headshot to résumé, so it's helpful if they can see you on the résumé.)
